Although there are too many factors to count in search engine algorithms, most SEO’s approach a Search Engine Optimization campaign the same way…by breaking it down into two basic functions.
1. On-Site SEO
2. Off-Site SEO
On-Site SEO refers to any work you do ON the website that may have any potential impact in your search engine rankings. This may involve such things as editing HTML, title tags, meta tags, adding hyperlinks, or placing Alt tags on your images. In the beginning of an Search Engine Optimization campaign, this is where a bulk of your time will be spent.
Off-Site SEO refers to any work you do for your Search Engine Optimization campaign that DOESN’T directly involve making changes on the website. This includes such things as link building, directory submission, local content optimization, video optimization, and even social media. While these efforts may often be overlooked, they become increasingly important over time. You can’t make major changes to your site forever, eh?
